Madison, Knoxville make moves up Power Rankings

A fairly one-sided Week 9 of the 2024 USL League One regular season saw five teams each enjoy a promising victory. In the Prinx Tires USL League One Power Rankings, we take a look at how each team is progressing as the season unfolds.

Average Ranking: 3		 Triumph SC bagged a last-minute winner through Lyam MacKinnon’s ninth of the season across all competitions to go to the top of the table.
3 Forward Madison FC
LEAGUE: (3-0-3)
CUP: (1-1-0)
Week 9: W @ SPK		 2
Last Week: 5
Average Ranking: 5		 Despite Spokane recording an expected goals value greater than twice that of Madison, the ‘Mingos still dropped three on Velocity FC to confirm their best start to a season through six matches in club history.
4 One Knoxville SC
LEAGUE: (4-1-1)
CUP: (1-1-0)

Last Week: 6
Average Ranking: 4		 One Knox grabbed its first win in three matches through an encouraging performance that saw Angelo Kelly-Rosales bag his third goal of the season and newcomer Kempes Tekiela score his third goal in three matches.
5 Charlotte Independence
LEAGUE: (3-2-1)
CUP: (0-1-1)
Week 9: L v OMA 		1
Last Week: 4
Average Ranking: 5		 After holding a one-goal lead against Omaha at halftime, the Jacks ended up conceding their largest loss in league play since losing to Omaha by an identical score in October 2023.
6 Spokane Velocity FC
LEAGUE: (3-3-1)
CUP: (1-0-1)
Week 9: L v MAD		 3
Last Week: 3
Average Ranking: 7		 The scoreline was certainly a bit misleading, but for now, Spokane’s 3-0 loss at home to Madison will go down as the largest margin of defeat in the club’s short history.
7 South Georgia Tormenta FC
LEAGUE: (3-4-1)
CUP: (0-1-1)
Week 9: W v CHA		 1
Last Week: 8
Average Ranking: 9		 The Ibises’ recent dominance over the Red Wolves has continued, as South Georgia has gone unbeaten against Chattanooga in six consecutive meetings - outscoring them 18-7 across those six - and has scored four goals against Chattanooga in three consecutive matches.
8 Richmond Kickers
LEAGUE: (1-4-2)
CUP: (0-1-1)
Week 9: L v GVL		 1
Last Week: 7
Average Ranking: 9		 The Kickers have now failed to record a victory across their last seven matches - their longest such stretch since ending the 2023 campaign with 16 consecutive winless matches.
9 Lexington SC
LEAGUE: (1-3-2)
CUP: (1-0-1)

Last Week: 9
Average Ranking: 7		 Off last week, Lexington is on the road at Chattanooga for just the second time in club history in what should be a winnable match for the second-year side.
10 Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC
LEAGUE: (0-2-2)
CUP: (1-0-1)
Round 2: W @ KNX		 1
Last Week: 11
Average Ranking: 8		 The Hailstorm have slowly but surely constructed a three-match unbeaten streak - their longest such streak since ending the regular season with three consecutive victories in 2023. The Hailstorm will host Charlotte in their home opener on Saturday.
11 Chattanooga Red Wolves SC
LEAGUE: (1-2-1)
CUP: (1-1-0)
Week 9: L @ TRM		 1
Last Week: 10
Average Ranking: 10		 The Red Wolves’ struggles against South Georgia continued last weekend, as Chattanooga recorded its largest loss since June 2023 - a result that was also tied for the largest margin of defeat in club history.
12 Central Valley Fuego FC
LEAGUE: (1-6-0)
CUP: (0-0-2)
Week 9: L v KNX
Last Week: 12
Average Ranking: 11		 A disappointing result against Knoxville means Fuego FC has gone winless across its last eight matches - that’s the second-longest streak in club history after a run of 14 winless matches toward the end of last season.
