Greenville's Swiss superstar tallied third brace of season to earn fifth career Player of the Week recognition

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the Team of the Week for Week 7 of the 2024 regular season with Greenville Triumph SC forward Lyam MacKinnon named Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball with his third brace of the season, across all competitions.

The former Villanova University standout and FC Lausanne-Sport youth product extended his special run of form to kick off his second professional season, notching a five-minute brace to seal Greenville's victory on the road against Peach States Derby rival South Georgia. Earning the fifth Team of the Week recognition of his young career, MacKinnon has totaled seven goals across Triumph SC's first nine matches of the season, across all competitions.

"Our goal was to keep a clean sheet on Sunday night and the team did fantastic defensively to achieve that," MacKinnon mentioned. "It was nice to get two late goals to put the game away, especially after fighting this hard to keep our lead during the game. I'm glad we're back on track!"

In total, six of the eight teams in action in Week 7 earned representation on the Team of the Week. Expansion side Spokane led all clubs with four starters named to the Team of the Week after it claimed its first league road win of the season. Across the Team of the Week and Team of the Week bench, Greenville saw four players represented following its big derby win in Statesboro.

COACH - Leigh Veidman, Spokane Velocity FC: Spokane's inaugural head coach guided Velocity FC to its largest win in club history, first road victory in league play and confirmed his side's first regular season sweep with their second victory against Richmond. Spokane's 1.51 points won above expected were the most on the week, according to American Soccer Analysis.

GK - Austin Pack, Charlotte Independence: Pack's six saves were tied for the most on the week and he was one of four 'keepers to maintain a clean sheet. The reigning Goalkeeper of the Year helped Charlotte become the first club to hold the Players' Shield holders, Omaha, scoreless in league play.

D - Romain Métanire, Spokane Velocity FC: The Madagascar international showed out in Spokane's first-ever road victory in league play. Métanire scored the match-winning goal at a raucous City Stadium and added nine duels won, eight recoveries and three tackles won.

D - Marco Milanese, Union Omaha: Milanese anchored an Omaha backline that became the first team to hold Charlotte scoreless in league play this season. The SSC Napoli youth product completed 93% of his passes, won eight duels, recorded a league-high five interceptions, tallied four recoveries and completed three long passes.

D - Bruno Rendón, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC: The second-year Hailstorm defender completed 93% of his passes, won five duels, reeled in five recoveries, completed three long passes and won two tackles in Northern Colorado's dramatic draw against Chattanooga. Rendón's passing score (7.28) was the most of any player in Week 7, according to American Soccer Analysis.

M - Collin Fernandez, Spokane Velocity FC: The former Peru youth international and USL veteran registered his first goal contribution in Spokane colors, assisting Romain Métanire's match-winning score against Richmond. The 27-year-old midfielder completed 89% of his passes, completed four long passes and won five duels against the Kickers.

M - Andre Lewis, Spokane Velocity FC: Lewis registered his third goal for Spokane - all three from distance and his first in league play - in Richmond on Saturday. The former Jamaica international completed 88% of his passes, won four duels, completed four long passes and won a pair of fouls.

M - Mayele Malango, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Malango earned his third appearance on the USL League One Team of the Week in his fourth season in the league by assisting the Red Wolves' lone goal against Northern Colorado. The former Malawi international completed 77% of his passes, won six duels and completed two dribbles. Malango's three chances created were tied for the most on Week 7.

M - Pierre Reedy, Spokane Velocity FC: Enjoying the most productive season of his three-year professional career, the 2022-23 Scottish Championship winner assisted Andre Lewis' goal in Richmond on Saturday. The 26-year-old completed 100% of his 17 passes, won eight duels, made seven recoveries and won three tackles.

F - Ethan Hoard, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC: The first-year professional and former USL League Two standout notched his first goal in league play to go along with a pair of U.S. Open Cup goals earlier in the season. In addition to his match-tying goal deep in stoppage time, the 22-year-old earned his first Team of the Week nod with eight duels won, four completed dribbles, a week-best three shots on target and three recoveries. Hoard's 1.88 points added were the most on the week, according to American Soccer Analysis.

F - Lyam MacKinnon, Greenville Triumph SC: The second-year Swiss professional has enjoyed a stellar start to the 2024 campaign, tallying seven goals in nine matches, across all competitions. The 24-year-old also won three duels, tallied two recoveries and placed two shots on target. MacKinnon's 0.31 goals added were the most on the week, according to American Soccer Analysis.

F - Ropapa Mensah, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Following a first-half goal against Northern Colorado in Chattanooga's home opener, the former Ghana youth international has scored six goals across his last five matches, across all competitions. The USL veteran also won 11 duels and three fouls.
