Despite loss, Greenville remain on top of table and Power Rankings

We're officially through the first month of the season and all 12 teams are starting to develop their identities on the pitch. In the Prinx Tires USL League One Power Rankings, we take a look at how each team is progressing as the season unfolds.

Average Ranking: 4		 After recording its third season - in six years of existence - with five or more consecutive wins across all competitions, Greenville dropped a pair of tight contests in league and U.S. Open Cup play. Greenville can remain atop the table with a win or draw against South Georgia on Sunday.
2 Union Omaha

Last Week: 3
Average Ranking: 2		 Finally playing their second league match of the season, the Owls handed Knoxville its first league loss of the season. The Owls - one of just two unbeaten teams in league play - have picked up five victories in five matches across all competitions this season.
3 One Knoxville SC

Week 6: L v OMA 		1
Last Week: 2
Average Ranking: 4		 In their CBS Sports Golazo Network debut, Knoxville fell to Union Omaha by a one-goal margin at Regal Soccer Stadium. The most statistically efficient team in the league in relation to goals added, according to American Soccer Analysis, will have the week off before kicking off their USL Jäegermeister Cup participation next week.
4 Charlotte Independence

Last Week: 5
Average Ranking: 5		 The 2023 USL League One finalists bounced back from a slow start to the season with their second consecutive victory, handing first-place Greenville its first loss of the season. Despite being outplayed in certain matches early this year, the Jacks have won the most points above expected in the league (3.48).
5 Forward Madison FC
(1-0-3)
Week 6: T v RIC		 1
Last Week: 4
Average Ranking: 5		 In the first Henny Derby match of the season, Madison bounced back from a one-goal deficit to finish level against rival Richmond. The ‘Mingos have the week off before a USL Jägermeister Cup clash with Lexington next week.
6 South Georgia Tormenta FC
(2-1-1)
Week 6: ---		 1
Last Week: 7
Average Ranking: 9		 SUM: If a few things went the way of the Ibises early in the season, South Georgia could easily be undefeated and perched atop the table. Still, Tormenta FC has the opportunity to rise to the top of the table with a win against first-place Greenville on Sunday.
7 Spokane Velocity FC
(2-2-1)

Last Week: 6
Average Ranking: 8		 Despite going winless across its last two league matches, Leigh Veidman’s Spokane squad has gotten off to a solid start to their debut campaign. Velocity FC leads the league in passing accuracy (84%) and duels success (53%) and is second in the league with an average possession of 54%.
8 Richmond Kickers

Last Week: 10
Average Ranking: 10		 Despite squandering a one-goal advantage against the ‘Mingos in the first Henry Derby match of the season, all four of the Kickers’ points on the young season were won after trailing their opposition. Richmond will wrap up its regular-season series against newcomers Spokane at home on Saturday; the hosts are 21-10-13 against league opponents in their first visits to City Stadium.
9 Lexington SC

Last Week: 9
Average Ranking: 5		 Finally snapping its three-match league losing streak, Lexington managed to secure a point in a high-scoring draw against newcomers Spokane. The second-year side has the week off before a USL Jägermeister Cup match with Madison next week.
10 Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC
(0-2-1)
Week 6: --- 		2
Last Week: 8
Average Ranking: 5		 The Hailstorm have yet to figure it out to start the 2024 season. With a league-low one goal scored on the season, Northern Colorado will look to bounce back against a Chattanooga side starting to find its rhythm in Head Coach Éamon Zayed’s return to the Den.
11 Chattanooga Red Wolves SC
(1-1-0)
Week 6: W @ CV		 1
Last Week: 12
Average Ranking: 9		 The Red Wolves are set to return to a revamped CHI Memorial Stadium as they host the Hailstorm in the pair’s first match on CBS Sports Golazo Network on Saturday. If it can build off of the momentum from its 4-2 victory over Central Valley last week, Chattanooga may be in for a victorious home opener.
12 Central Valley Fuego FC

Week 6: L v CHA		 1
Last Week: 11
Average Ranking: 11		 Jermaine Jones’ Central Valley Fuego FC has won the most points below expected (-3.95) across the league thus far. Fuego FC’s four-match league losing streak is the fourth such streak since the start of the 2023 season.
