League One leads all leagues for second consecutive round, sends eight clubs into Third Round

SOUTH GEORGIA TORMENTA FC 4 - 0 SAVANNAH CLOVERS FC

STATESBORO, Ga. - South Georgia Tormenta FC has advanced to the Third Round of the U.S. Open Cup for the third consecutive season with a 4-0 thrashing of NISA side and South Georgia Showdown rival Savannah Clovers FC. The Ibises dominated the Clovers from start to finish, scoring 74 seconds into the contest and adding three more throughout 90 minutes of play. The victory sees South Georgia join Richmond, Charlotte and Omaha as current League One clubs with six or more U.S. Open Cup victories.

APOTHEOS FC 0 - 1 CHATTANOOGA RED WOLVES SC

ATLANTA - Chattanooga Red Wolves SC on Wednesday evening defeated 2023 NPSL runners-up Apotheos FC, 1-0, at Silverbacks Park. Aside from Apotheos FC placing two shots on target, the Red Wolves dominated nearly every phase of the contest, maintaining over 65% possession, firing off eight shots inside the box and completing 226 more passes than the hosts. The difference came in the 52nd minute when Stefan Lukic took advantage of a mistake in the back to fire home the match-winning score. With the win, Chattanooga advances to the Third Round of the U.S. Open Cup for the first time in its six-year history.

ONE KNOXVILLE SC 2 - 3 GREENVILLE TRIUMPH SC (A.E.T.)

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - In the third-ever all-League One U.S. Open Cup contest, Greenville Triumph SC defeated One Knoxville SC in extra time in a thrilling 3-2 affair at Regal Soccer Stadium. A pair of braces from Greenville's Lyam MacKinnon and Knoxville's Kempes Tekiela saw the sides finish level through 90 minutes. While Knoxville controlled the pace of the match, Greenville took advantage of its chances as evidenced by a 107th-minute winner from Chapa Herrera. Knoxville's U.S. Open Cup journey ends in the Second Round for the third consecutive season, while Greenville will advance to the Third Round - matching its best finish - for the first time since 2022.

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - Featuring a young, rotational squad at SeatGeek Stadium, Forward Madison FC fell to MLS NEXT Pro side Chicago Fire FC II, 2-0, on Wednesday evening. The 'Mingos were unable to place a shot on target and fell behind Fire II on a pair of unlucky goals.

David Poręba (CHI) – The 21-year-old Polish midfielder scored the winning goal in the 11th minute, poking in a spilled ball from the Madison goalkeeper.

UNION OMAHA 3 - 1 DES MOINES MENACE

OMAHA, Neb. - Union Omaha defeated USL League Two side Des Moines Menace, 3-1, on Wednesday at Al F. Caniglia Field. With a Menace roster featuring a number of former professional talents including Sacha Kljestan, Roger Espinoza, AJ DeLaGarza, Brian Rowe and Euan Holden, the Owls again found success in U.S. Open Cup competition, firing three goals past the collection of young and old stars. In all three U.S. Open Cup participations, Omaha have advanced to at least the Third Round.

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC took care of its business late at DICK's Sporting Goods Park, defeating MLS NEXT Pro's Colorado Rapids 2, 3-2, in extra time. The Hailstorm relied on their veteran leadership to erase a one-goal deficit and jump in front by a goal, but a stoppage-time equalizer from Rapids 2 forced the match into extra time. With mere minutes remaining in the match before a penalty shootout, David García buried the winning goal, sending the Hailstorm through to the Third Round for the third consecutive season.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Velocity FC rallied for its second consecutive 1-0 victory in U.S. Open Cup play, this time defeating NISA's Los Angeles Force in the first U.S. Open Cup match at ONE Spokane Stadium. The match was controlled by the hosts in front of a raucous crowd, and the winner came late for Spokane once again as captain Luis Gil slammed in the contest's lone goal in the 85th minute.
