LEXINGTON, Ky.  Lexington SC today announced another new addition to its 2024 USL League One roster in 22-year-old defender Daniel Chica, pending league and federation approval.

Hailing from Leesburg, Va., the defender started his career with the Virginia Developmental Academy in 2020 after attending Tuscarora High School in his hometown.

He played collegiately at George Mason University for two years and made 21 appearances for the school, also being named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll as a freshman.

Chica left the college game when he signed a professional contract with Loudoun United FC of the USL Championship. He would go on to make 13 league appearances for the club during the 2023 season and an additional three appearances in Loudoun's first U.S. Open Cup run. One of eight USL Championship clubs to reach the Round of 32 of last year's U.S. Open Cup, Loudoun and Chica defeated eventual USL League One champion North Carolina FC and eventual NISA champion Flower City Union before falling to eventual MLS Cup winners Columbus Crew SC.

Ahead of the 2024 season Chica became a trialist for Lexington SC, excelling in the club's practices and exhibition matches.

"Daniel has impressed the staff during the past weeks and is a player with good potential as a defender," Lexington Head Coach Darren Powell said. "We are excited to have him on our roster full time and be available for selection."

"I'm really excited to join Lexington SC and grow as a player and person," Chica said. "I'm excited to be part of the team and looking forward to doing something special this year."
