Angelo Kelly-Rosales' two goal contributions earn Honduran first-career Player of the Week honor

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the Team of the Week for Week 2 of the 2024 regular season with One Knoxville SC forward Angelo Kelly-Rosales named Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball with the first two-goal-contribution performance of the season.

The All-League Second Team midfielder - playing up top in Knoxville's 2024 debut - assisted Frank Ross' opening score in the 51st minute before nodding in a goal of his own in the 78th minute to confirm victory. The two-goal-contribution performance was the second of the Honduran's seven-year professional career.

"I'm grateful that I was in the right place at the right time to make the header, sometimes you can't plan for those, and you just have to go with it," Kell-Rosales said. "We knew we needed to start the season off right, and what better way to do it than with a win."

"We are delighted to get off the mark with the first three points of the season, against last year's finalists," Knoxville Head Coach Mark McKeever said. "There was no surprise for me in Angelo's performance, even playing out of position we know what we get from Angelo. His commitment and energy are special attributes and he can do things that other players can't do. I'm happy for Angelo to get some deserved recognition and I know this will only fuel his fire to be better and better every week."

Across the entire Team of the Week, Spokane and Omaha led all clubs with four players represented, while Knoxville and Lexington also placed multiple players on the list. In total, nine of the 10 teams in action in Week 2 earned representation on the Team of the Week.

COACH - Leigh Veidman, Spokane Velocity FC: Veidman picked up his ninth career victory as a professional head coach and first as Spokane's gaffer, leading Velocity FC to a 2-1 win over Richmond in front of a sold-out ONE Spokane Stadium in the club's inaugural home opener. Veidman's side overcame the largest disparity in possession (14%) across the league and were just one of two teams to win while trailing in expected goals.

GK - Ford Parker, South Georgia Tormenta FC: In his second match for the Ibises, Parker made seven saves in his side's 1-1 draw with Madison. Parker's seven saves are tied for the third-most in Tormenta FC's professional history, and the 27-year-old shot-stopper added 11 recoveries, three completed long passes and a 96% passing accuracy.

D - Clay Dimick, Charlotte Independence: In his first match back since Aug. 12, 2023 after dealing with a serious neck injury, Dimick scored the Independence's first goal of the season - the fourth of his career. The Charlotte captain also won five duels, recorded four recoveries and tallied a pair of tackles won.

D - Ahmed Longmire, Spokane Velocity FC: The 10th overall selection in MLS SuperDraft 2022, Longmire recorded his first professional goal in Spokane's sold-out home opener on Saturday. Along with bagging the match-winner, Longmire added six duels won, five completed long passes, two recoveries and completed over 86% of his passes.

D - Blake Malone, Union Omaha: The former title-winning Owl returned to his native Omaha for a second stint with the Players' Shield holders. Malone scored Omaha's first goal of the season - his first as an Owl - and contributed to Omaha's season-opening victory with two recoveries, two long passes completed and a passing accuracy of 84%.

D - Romain Métanire, Spokane Velocity FC: The Madagascar international made history in the Lilac City, scoring the first goal in ONE Spokane Stadium history in front of a raucous, sold-out crowd of over 5,000. Métanire's fourth-minute goal set the tone early, and the 33-year-old defender added five recoveries and three duels won across 79 minutes of play.

M - Adrian Billhardt, Richmond Kickers: In his first action back in League One since being named Comeback Player of the Year in 2022, Billhardt opened the scoring for Richmond to kick off their 32nd-consecutive season. The BFC Dynamo and Union Berlin youth product tallied three duels won, two recoveries, two dribbles completed and one chance created.

M - Devin Boyce, Forward Madison FC: The 2021 All-League Second Team midfielder was stellar in his debut with Madison. Boyce's 15 combined duels and tackles won were the most in Week 2, and the 27-year-old also recorded six recoveries, two fouls won, two chances created and the lone goal in the 'Mingos' 1-1 draw with South Georgia.

M - Shavon John-Brown, Central Valley Fuego FC: After spending the 2023 season with a pair of EPSL and UPSL sides, the Grenada international's return to professional soccer has gotten off to a hot start. In his second match with Central Valley, John-Brown scored Fuego FC's first home goal of the season and registered seven recoveries, six duels won and three tackles won.

M - Yannick Yankam, Lexington SC: Yankam scored his first goal for Lexington on Friday, securing a victory over Chattanooga. The Malta international won six duels, three fouls and one tackle to go along with a pair of recoveries and interceptions.
