Jamaica’s Jahmali Waite, Romario Williams head for CNL Finals, Trinidad and Tobago quartet vie for Copa America berth

Hartford Athletic's Romario Williams (Jamaica), Oakland Roots SC's Bryan Tamacas (El Salvador) and Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC's Noah Powder (Trinidad and Tobago) are all set for international duty this week.

More than 20 current players from the USL Championship and USL League One have been called up for senior international duty this week for contests around the world that include the 2024 Concacaf Nations League Finals and the final qualifying round for the 2024 Copa América this summer.

Here are three storylines to follow in the coming days.

Jamaica – El Paso Locomotive FC goalkeeper Jahmali Waite and Hartford Athletic forward Romario Williams have been called up by the Reggae Boyz for the Concacaf Nations League Finals in Arlington, Texas, with Jamaica set to face the United States on Thursday night in the tournament’s Semifinals (7 p.m. ET | Paramount Plus).

Set to be back-up to regular starter Andre Blake of the Philadelphia Union, Waite has made a solid start with El Paso, posting 10 saves in three games at a 75 percent save percentage. Williams, meanwhile, scored on his debut for Hartford in Week 1, earning his new club a 1-0 win against Waite and El Paso.

Trinidad and Tobago – Oakland Roots SC’s Neveal Hackshaw, San Antonio FC’s Shannon Gomez and the Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC duo of Real Gill and Noah Powder are in the Soca Warriors’ squad as it tries to upset the odds against Canada to advance to the 2024 Copa América.

Trinidad and Tobago will look to build on a 2-1 upset of the United States in its last official outing as its faces Canada on Saturday evening at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Hackshaw enters having helped Oakland to an undefeated start through two games to start the season, while Gill and Powder both started in the Hailstorm’s draw at Lexington SC to start the new season.

El Salvador – A quintet of USL Championship players – El Paso Locomotive FC’s Amando Moreno and Jeremy Garay, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC’s Jairo Henriquez, Oakland Roots SC’s Bryan Tamacas and North Carolina FC’s Nelson Flores Blanco – will face two high-profile friendlies as La Selecta looks to rebuild after a major downturn in form saw the country relegated into League B in the next edition of the Concacaf Nations League in the fall.

While Lionel Messi won’t be present for Argentina, El Salvador will still face a major challenge from the defending World Cup title holders at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Friday night before heading to Houston to face eternal rival Honduras at Shell Energy Stadium next Tuesday. With the country’s World Cup Qualifying set to kick off in June against Puerto Rico and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, some positive momentum would be welcome.

Now, here's a complete look at the players who will be on international duty in the upcoming week.
