STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC announced the signing of Iraqi-American left back Alsadiq Hasan pending league and federation approval. The 24-year-old joins the club following the completion of his master's degree at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

"I'm grateful to have signed my first professional contract with such a great organization," Hasan said. "I'm looking forward to this opportunity to be able to play in front of the Tormenta FC fans and help the team to win another championship. I believe I will grow and develop my game immensely under the coaching staff, and cannot wait to see what the season holds for us!"

Hasan signed with South Georgia, having spent the early stages of preseason on trial with the club before he was signed on a permanent deal.

"It's always interesting bringing in trialists and having a vision of what you want on the field in certain roles, and pairing that with what types of personalities the staff feel add to your group," South Georgia Head Coach Ian Cameron said. "Sadiq is a converted midfielder who will play left back, so we knew his football qualities fit, and we just wanted to see it happen live."

The Baghdad, Iraq native joins Tormenta FC having most recently played for his alma mater. Hasan played for the Cougars during the 2022 and 2023 seasons and was named captain of the team. During the 2023 campaign, Hasan led the team to an undefeated regular season, winning the Ohio Valley Conference regular season and tournament title.

During his two seasons with the Cougars, Hasan started 27 of 32 matches he appeared in while scoring five goals and providing two assists. Following the 2023 season, Hasan was named to the All-OVC First Team.

Hasan began his college career at Quincy University, where he made 46 appearances and started 37 matches. During his three seasons with the Hawks, he netted six goals, provided eight assists, and was named to the Great Leaks Valley All-Conference team twice.

Hasan has also spent time playing for NPSL side, St. Louis Club Atletico and USL League Two sides Saint Louis FC U-23 and St. Charles FC.

"What the staff quickly gravitated towards however is Sadiq as a person," Cameron said. "Finding young players with the strength of character to push teammates, to have a voice, to amplify non-negotiable traits like ethic and determination is maybe proving rarer and rarer. So on both fronts of character and competency, this lad made himself a must-sign."
