CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Independence announced Cameroonian defender Fabrice Ngah is returning to the 2024 squad, pending league and federation approval. Ngah joins a solid returning corps of defenders from last year's roster.

"I am delighted to welcome Fabrice back," Charlotte Head Coach Mike Jeffries expressed. "He is strong and solid defensively and plays with great composure in possession. His decision-making on the ball and ability to hit a variety of passes will aid in our build-up play; in the final third, he has shown the ability to make a difference-making play."

Ngah played in 23 matches, starting five, last year primarily at left back. His long pass success rate was among the best on the team in 2023. Ngah scored his first goal for the club just two minutes after entering as a substitute in the Jacks' emphatic 4-1 win over Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC on July 29.

Ngah joined the Jacks in 2023 after playing with his hometown club Canon Sportif de Yaoundé in the top-flight Cameroonian Elite One.

Before Ngah's time with Canon Yaoundé, he played with Egyptian side Ceramica Cleopatra FC in the Egyptian Premier League, making 12 appearances for the Gold and Blood across Premier League and Egypt Cup play.

Ngah spent the majority of his professional career with Moroccan power Raja Club Athletic in the top-flight Botola Pro. He made a combined 53 appearances across three seasons from 2018-20 in CAF Champions League, CAF Confederation Cup, CAF Super Cup, Moroccan Throne Cup and Botola Pro play. He scored two goals, earned two assists and won the CAF Super Cup (2019) and Botola Pro (2020) with RCA.

Ngah started his time in Morocco with Difaâ Hassani El Jadidi in 2017 before he left in 2018. He made 30 appearances and registered one goal with four assists. He started his professional career in Cameroon with Les Astres FC in 2013 after developing in the club's youth system between 2009-14.

Ngah debuted for his native Cameroon against the Central African Republic in the 2014 CEMAC Cup. In the final edition of the CEMAC Cup, organized by the Central African Football Federations' Union (UNIFFAC), the non-FIFA tournament featured only local league players from six Central African countries.

Ngah began his official international career with the Cameroon youth national team in 2017, appearing in two 2017 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations group stage matches against Sudan and Senegal in 2017. Ngah received his first senior team call-up in March 2018 in an international friendly victory against Kuwait. Most recently, Ngah made two appearances and was an unused substitute in two additional Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for the Indomitable Lions between Nov. 2020 and March 2021.
