SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Velocity FC announced the addition of former Jamaica international midfielder Andre Lewis and former One Knoxville SC goalkeeper Peter Swinkels, pending league and federation approval.

Lewis began his career in his native Jamaica within the youth systems of Jamaica Premier League clubs Cavalier FC (2010-11) and Portmore United FC (2011-13). Lewis made his professional debut with PMU in the 2013 CFU Club Championship in two legs against TT Premier Football League's Morvant Caledonia United in May.

Lewis was selected with the seventh pick of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft by Vancouver Whitecaps FC and made his debut in the United States with USL Championship clubs Charleston Battery (2014) and Whitecaps FC 2 (2015) on a pair of loans from the 'Caps.

Lewis signed with USL Championship club Portland Timbers 2 in 2016 and made 68 appearances for T2 between 2016 and 2018. Lewis made one appearance with the Timbers' senior team, playing all 90 minutes of Portland's loss to Seattle Sounders FC in the Fourth Round of the 2017 U.S. Open Cup.

Lewis returned to Portmore United in 2019 and made 25 appearances across all competitions for PMU, helping the club win the 2019 CFU Club Championship and the Jamaica Premier League in the 2018-19 season.

Between 2020 and 2023, Lewis returned to the United States and the USL Championship, suiting up for Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC (2020-21) and Hartford Athletic (2022-23). During that span, Lewis made 103 appearances between both clubs and tallied a combined 26 goal contributions.

A Jamaica international between 2017 and 2019, Lewis made seven appearances for the Reggae Boyz across Concacaf Gold Cup, Concacaf Nations League and international friendly play.

"Andre is a great addition to our midfield and will bring a lot of energy and attacking threat to our team," said Velocity FC Head Coach Leigh Veidman. "He has an excellent ability on the ball, a fantastic work ethic box to box and has a real tenacity defensively. His vast experience in the USL and with his national team Jamaica will be a huge asset in the locker room."

Goalkeeper Peter Swinkels had a standout career at San Francisco State University, where he notched 17 shutouts in 42 matches and won California Collegiate Athletic Association accolades in three out of his four seasons. He also competed on the school's track team and spent summers playing with San Francisco City FC of USL League Two. He spent a final collegiate season as a graduate transfer at the University of New Hampshire before signing with then-USL League Two side One Knoxville SC in 2022. Swinkels made five appearances across all competitions for Knoxville during the 2023 season.

"Peter is a great guy and comes off the back of two years of experience in the USL, he is going to bring a real competitive edge to our team and more specifically the goalkeeping department," said Veidman. "We are delighted to have Peter joining our club and community."
