PAPILLION, Neb. – Union Omaha announced on Tuesday the club had signed veteran midfielder Victor “PC” Giro and goalkeeper Wallis Lapsley ahead of the 2024 USL League One season. The transactions are pending league and federation approval.

A Brazilian midfielder, PC joins Omaha having spent the past four seasons with San Antonio FC in the USL Championship. The 29-year-old midfielder led the side to its first USL Championship title in the 2022 season and recorded more than 6,000 minutes for the club. Prior to joining San Antonio, PC competed in Major League Soccer for both Orlando City SC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

“I’m delighted to have added a player of PC’s caliber and experience to our locker room,” said Omaha Head Coach Dominic Casciato. “He’s a proven winner and comes to us from one of the top clubs in the USL Championship. Having always been impressed with his competitive nature and leadership skills when playing against him, I’m excited to work with him and see how his personality and ability with and without the ball elevate our standards both on the field and in the locker room this season.”

“I’m happy to be here and excited to start the season,” said Giro. “I’ll give my best to help the team achieve our goals this season!”

Lapsley joins Los Buhos after spending the past two seasons with Tacoma Defiance of MLS NEXT Pro, where recorded four shutouts in 14 appearances. Tacoma reached the Western Conference Final of the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs in 2022 after winning the Pacific Division as Lapsley played the entirety of the team’s playoff campaign. Lapsley also previously played in USL League One for FC Tucson, making 30 appearances and recording a league-leading 91 saves in the 2021 season to help lead the side to the Semifinals of the USL League One Playoffs.

“I’m thrilled to have added Wallis to our squad for the 2024 season, having tracked his career and development since he was a senior in college at UC Davis,” said Casciato. “His size, his quality and his character have always impressed me, and he will bring great competition to our goalkeeper department. He knows the league well having been the No. 1 at FC Tucson a few years back and has got better over the past couple of seasons in Seattle. He is a great addition both on and off the field.”

“I am excited and thankful for the opportunity to contribute to the established winning culture of the club and to represent the city of Omaha,” said Lapsley.
