SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Velocity FC today announced the signing of 24-year-old defender Ahmed Longmire, pending league and federation approval.

The Las Vegas, Nev. native played collegiately at Utah Valley University (2018-19) and UCLA (2020-21). Longmire was named First Team All-WAC and was an All-WAC Tournament Team selection at Utah Valley in 2019. The defender also earned 2020-21 Pac-12 All-Conference Second Team and 2021 Pac-12 All-Conference honorable mention nods at UCLA.

In Jan. 2022, Longmire was selected by Nashville SC with the 10th overall selection in the MLS SuperDraft 2022. In June 2022, Longmire was loaned to USL Championship side Orange County SC and made his professional debut with the reigning champions at Louisville City FC on June 18, 2022.

After five league appearances with OCSC, Longmire returned to Nashville where he went on to make one appearance with the senior team in a Leagues Cup victory against Club América on Sept. 21, 2022. Longmire was an unused substitute on seven occasions for Nashville during the 2022 MLS season.

In 2023, Longmire made 11 appearances for Nashville's MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, Huntsville City FC, before departing Nashville at the end of the season.

"Ahmed is still fairly young but brings good experiences from MLS and the USL Championship," said Leigh Veidman, Head Coach of Spokane Velocity FC. "He is a center back who brings a physical prowess to our back line, is technically good on the ball and will be a key figure in us implementing our style of play. We are delighted to have him join us!"
