GREENVILLE, S.C. - Greenville Triumph SC today announced the signing of goalkeeper Christian Garner, pending league and federation approval.

Garner, a 23-year-old native of Orleans, Mass., played collegiately at Boston College (2018-21) and Northwestern University (2022). While in college, Garner also played for the Seacoast United Phantoms in USL League Two in 2021.

During his time at BC, the goalkeeper posted six shutouts and a saved 72.7% of shots faced throughout 28 games. As a junior, he played every minute in goal, logging 560 minutes during the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season. During his senior season, Garner captained the Eagles and was named to the All-ACC Academic Team.

Garner ended his collegiate career at Northwestern as a graduate transfer in 2022. Garner started 13 matches for the Wildcats and totaled 64 saves and one clean sheet.

Garner signed his first professional contract in 2023 with USL Championship club Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and made four appearances for the 2023 USL Championship Players' Shield winners across league and U.S. Open Cup play. The 'keeper's professional debut came in a league match against Miami FC in March 2023.

"Christian has a good background with the Riverhounds and is going to provide good competition for the guys to push each other in training," Greenville Head Coach Rick Wright said.
