PAPILLION, Neb. – Union Omaha today announced the signing of defender Mechack Jérôme, pending league and federation approval. A professional for nearly two decades, the 33-year-old Haiti international joins Omaha having previously won the 2011 USL Championship Final with Orlando City SC and MLS Cup 2013 with Sporting Kansas City.

Jérôme's professional career began in 2006 for Baltimore SC in the top-flight Ligue Haïtienne. During his three years with Baltimore, the club claimed two league titles (2006 - Série d'Ouverture, 2007 - Série d'Ouverture), one Coupe d'Haïti (2006) and one Trophée des Champions d'Haïti (2007).

In 2009, he moved to third-tier Portuguese club SC Mirandela in the Segunda Divisão Portuguesa. In 2010, Jérôme signed with USSF Division 2 Professional League club Austin Aztex FC and made three appearances with the club.

In 2011, Jérôme signed a multi-year contract with then-USL Championship side Orlando City SC, making 43 appearances across all competitions with the Lions and claiming a USL Championship title in 2011.

In 2013, Jérôme spent a year with Major League Soccer club Sporting Kansas City, making 16 appearances with the club across Concacaf Champions Cup, MLS and U.S. Open Cup play. The defender helped SKC claim its second MLS Cup in 2013.

In addition to spending time with D.C. United and CF Montréal's reserve teams, Jérôme went on to play for the Charlotte Independence (2015), Jacksonville Armada FC (2015-17), El Paso Locomotive FC (2019-21) and Indy Eleven (2022-23).

During his 15 years as a professional in the United States, Jérôme has accumulated over 250 appearances and 21,000 minutes.

A national team regular for Haiti, Jérôme's 74 senior national team appearances position him as one of the most capped players in Les Grenadiers' history.

"Mechack is an experienced player that has several caps for his country, and when watching him play, it's easy to see why - his ability speaks for itself," said Omaha Head Coach Dominic Casciato. "I worked closely with him in El Paso when we won the Mountain Division and Copa Tejas back in 2021, so I'm delighted to be able to bring him to Omaha this season. His defensive prowess and quality in possession will make him a great asset as we look to achieve success in 2024."

"I'm excited to say that I'm officially part of the Union Omaha family," said Jérôme. "This is going to be an amazing season, and I can't wait for what’s to come!"
