PAPILLION, Neb. – Union Omaha today announced the signing of Aarón Gómez, pending league and federation approval. The 29-year-old forward joins the club after excelling for nearly five years at the USL Championship level with El Paso Locomotive FC.

Gómez leaves El Paso as the club's all-time appearance leader with a total of 139 appearances across all competitions. His 52 goal contributions (34 goals, 18 assists) helped Locomotive FC to two conference quarterfinals and two conference final appearances. Union Omaha Head Coach Dominic Casciato worked with Gómez during his time as an assistant coach at El Paso. They lifted the Copa Tejas trophy together in 2021 and finished the regular season undefeated at home.

Gómez's professional career outside of the Championship saw him represent El Paso's sister club, FC Juárez, which was promoted to Mexico's top-flight Liga MX in 2019. He featured 53 times for Juárez between 2016 and 2019, scoring seven times in Liga de Expansión MX and Copa MX play.

"Aaron is a tireless worker and a proven goalscorer who plays the game with an energy and enthusiasm that’s inspiring to all of those around him," said Omaha Head Coach Dominic Casciato. "He's a player that I know well, having worked with him for two seasons in El Paso where we formed a strong relationship. Having seen his ability firsthand, I'm excited to see the impact he makes in Omaha as we look to elevate our squad and on-field performances in 2024."

"I am very happy to sign here and grateful to God," said Gómez. "It's going to be a great season and I’m very excited to see everyone on the field soon."
