WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC on Thursday announced that defender David García has been signed for 2024, pending league and federation approval.

García was a USL League One champion with North Carolina FC in 2023, his first professional season. Notably, he scored a pair of goals in the USL League One semifinals against the Hailstorm, knocking them out of the playoffs. He also played a key role in NCFC's lone goal in the USL League One Final.

"When I scouted North Carolina last season, he was one where I couldn't find many holes in his game," Hailstorm FC Head Coach Éamon Zayed said.

Prior to joining NCFC, García played four years at Florida International University, captaining the Panthers to their first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in nearly 20 years in 2022. He was also a captain at youth level with RCD Mallorca's U-19 team in his native Spain.

He now joins a Hailstorm back line that allowed the fewest goals in USL League One in 2023.

"I wanted to join the Hailstorm because I want to win another championship, and I know that this team has the potential to do so," García said.
