LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington SC announced another new addition to its 2024 USL League One roster, pending league and federation approval, on Monday. 25-year-old goalkeeper Nicolás "Nico" Campuzano is set to join the club after most recently playing for New England Revolution II in MLS NEXT Pro.

Hailing from Los Corrales de Buelna, Spain, the 'keeper started his career at lower-division Spanish sides AD Delasalle and Clube Bansander before joining the youth academy of Spanish Segunda División side Real Racing Club de Santander between 2008 and 2013. From 2013 to 2017, Camuzano spent time in the youth systems of fellow Spanish sides Real Valladolid CF, FC Barcelona and Villarreal CF.

In 2017, Campuzano signed with La Liga side UD Las Palmas and spent the season with Los Amarillos' third-division UD Las Palmas B and fourth-division UD Las Palmas C teams.

The 'keeper moved to the United States in 2018, playing collegiately at the University of Portland between 2018-19 and later at the University of Pittsburgh from 2020-21. Campuzano set records at Pitt for wins and minutes played while also being honored in All-ACC teams. In between his collegiate years, he would take part in the USL League Two, joining Manhattan SC.

Campuzano signed a professional contract with MLS NEXT Pro's FC Cincinnati 2 in 2022, making four appearances with 14 saves in orange and blue. In 2023, Campuzano signed with New England Revolution II, making 13 appearances for the club while also appearing on the bench for the Revs' senior team in three Major League Soccer contests.

"We welcome Nico to Lexington — he is a great addition to our goalkeepers," Lexington Head Coach Darren Powell said. "We will have a competitive group of 'keepers which is exciting for them and the team. Nico has good distribution skills and his shot-stopping is excellent. He is a good communicator and a great teammate. We have tracked Nico for the past three years and are pleased he has chosen Lexington as his next step for his career."

"I'm very excited to join an ambitious project at a young organization such as LSC with the opportunity to help shape the future of the club," Campuzano said.
