Lexington sign former Wolverhampton prospect Michael Agboola

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington SC today announced another new addition to its 2024 USL League One roster, pending league and federation approval and receipt of the player's ITC and P-1 visa. 22-year-old defender Michael Agboola is set to join the club and make the jump from England to the United States. 

An England native of Nigerian descent, the center back seven years in the youth ranks of National League side Dagenham & Redbridge FC. Agboola also spent time with the youth teams of both Charlton Athletic FC and Southampton FC. From there, Agboola made a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers FC's U-18 team in 2018. In five years with Wolverhampton's U-18 and Premier League 2 teams, Agboola made 14 appearances and scored one goal in league and EFL Cup play.

"We are excited to announce Michael joining us in Lexington," Lexington Head Coach Darren Powell said. "Michael is a versatile player who can play both as a center back and defensive midfielder depending on the formation we choose to play in.

"He's strong on the ball and has good ability to switch the play or break one, two or three lines while in possession of the ball with his passing. Defensively, he is strong in the air and in his tackles. He will look to compete immediately and put together a consistent body of work for our team. We look forward to his arrival!"
