MIAMI – Miami FC announced on Wednesday the club had signed defender Daltyn Knutson ahead of the 2024 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

The 26-year-old is set to make his USL Championship debut with Miami in 2024 after five seasons in USL League One, where this past season he competed for South Georgia Tormenta FC. A native of Spring, Texas, Knutson has made 108 appearances in League One, posting a 60.2 percent duel success rate and 67.7 tackle success rate.

After first appearing for Tormenta FC in 2019, Knutson joined Union Omaha for its inaugural campaign in 2020 and was a mainstay over the next three seasons. In 2021 he helped Los Buhos win the USL League One title, while the following year he made 31 appearances and way a key part of Omaha’s run to the Quarterfinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

With almost 10,000 minutes of play under his belt in USL League One across the regular season and playoffs, Daltyn Knutson will make the step into the USL Championship for the first time having been a solid performer for both Union Omaha and South Georgia Tormenta FC.

At 6-foot-2, Knutson brings solid size to his new club and solid numbers. In each of the four full seasons the 26-year-old has played – excluding the abbreviated 2020 campaign – he has recorded a minimum 65 percent tackle success rate and has recorded 312 clearances and a cumulative +15.46 Goals Added rate. We’ll see how that translates to what is looking like a sizeable overhaul in South Florida.
