BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Brooklyn Football Club today unveiled its team colors, badge and identity that take inspiration from shapes, shades and textures found in Brooklyn's public infrastructure and throughout the borough's 77 neighborhoods, and leans heavily on a unique spirit and attitude shared among the community.
"Brooklyn is the world's borough, at the forefront of culture and arts. Brooklyn is, unapologetically, Brooklyn. Encompassing that into a logo felt less about trying to mirror a traditional badge and more about representing our iconic borough with something bold and forward,” said designer Chris Payne.
The simple but elegant modern badge lets the multi-faceted and ever-changing backdrop of Brooklyn tell the story, and the colors provide an industrial, hard-working foundation for the club to grow. The limestone color represents the stone of the iconic bridge, while the brown in our palette pays homage to the brownstone brick that binds the borough.
The club identity was developed with fan input representing different demographics throughout Brooklyn—as well as an exploration of the borough's rich sporting history—identifying themes of inclusion, honesty, boldness and fearlessness. A limited run of leisurewear and workwear-inspired club apparel showcasing elements of the new identity is available at the team's club shop.
BKFC is set to become the borough's only professional soccer club, and will compete in USL League One within the United Soccer League (USL), the fastest-growing professional soccer league in the world comprised of 50+ professional teams across the United States. Brooklyn Football Club is a grassroots club that seeks to use sport as a vehicle for social good and empower our next generation of leaders.
