USMNT legend Jermaine Jones named Central Valley Fuego FC head coach

Former U.S. U-19 MNT assistant coach earns first professional head coaching opportunity

FRESNO, Calif. – Central Valley Fuego FC today announced the appointment of Jermaine Jones as its new head coach. Jones, a renowned figure in the world of soccer, brings a wealth of coaching acumen, following his distinguished career as a player. The hiring marks Jones' first appointment as a head coach of a senior team. Jones was most recently the assistant coach for the United States U-19 Men's National Team. Jones maintains a UEFA Pro License, UEFA A License, UEFA B License and U.S. Soccer B License.

A United States Men's National Team legend, Jones had a remarkable career as a defensive midfielder. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Jones went on to represent the USMNT with distinction. His time with the USMNT included 69 caps, notably contributing to the team's electric journey to the Round of 16 in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Jones is widely recognized for his relentless work ethic, defensive prowess and leadership on the field.

Jones' club career is equally as impressive, having played for a number of European clubs such as FC Schalke 04, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Beşiktaş JK and Blackburn Rovers FC, including 23 appearances in the UEFA Champions League.

After fourteen years of competing across Europe, Jones joined the New England Revolution in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a Designated Player before spending time with the Colorado Rapids, Los Angeles Galaxy and USL League Two's Ventura County Fusion. Throughout his extensive playing career, Jones showcased his commitment and ability to perform at the highest levels of the sport.

Upon his appointment as head coach, Jones expressed his enthusiasm for the role: "I am thrilled to join Central Valley Fuego FC and to immediately begin building a team that the community will be proud of."

Central Valley Fuego FC Managing Partner Juan Gerardo Ruelas Jr. shared his enthusiasm about the new appointment, stating, "We followed a lengthy and rigorous process and arrived at our decision to hire Jermaine, which we feel is the correct one.
