TAMPA, Fla. – A broad collection of current standouts in the USL Championship and USL League One have been selected to represent their countries in the upcoming FIFA September International Window, with 33 players called up by 18 countries for contests in the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League and 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying over the upcoming week.

Eighteen clubs across the USL Championship and League One will be represented, including players from seven nations competing in Concacaf Nations League A.

El Salvador boasts the highest number of USL Championship and League One selections with Oakland Roots SC’s Bryan Tamacas and North Carolina FC’s Nelson Flores Blanco rejoining the squad after competing in this summer’s Concacaf Gold Cup. They are joined by Miami FC’s Joaquin Rivas, New Mexico United’s Amando Moreno and El Paso Locomotive FC’s Eric Calvillo, who each earn recalls after positive league displays for their respective clubs.

Tamacas and Rivas could square off with a pair of their current teammates when El Salvador hosts Trinidad and Tobago next Sunday with Oakland’s Neveal Hackshaw and Miami’s Ryan Telfer called up by the Soca Warriors. That duo is joined by Shannon Gomez of San Antonio FC and Jesse Williams of Central Valley Fuego FC in the Trinidad and Tobago squad.

The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC duo of forward Romario Williams and Duke Lacroix could also square off next Tuesday when Jamaica hosts Haiti at Independence Park in Kingston. Williams makes his return to the Jamaica squad after this past weekend surpassing 50 regular season goals in the Championship, while Lacroix could make his second appearance for Haiti this week, having being called up by Haiti after missing out on selection for the Gold Cup due to a pre-tournament injury.

Championship standouts are also set to compete in Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying, with Charleston Battery leading goalscorer Augustine Williams selected by Sierra Leone, San Antonio FC defender Ish Jome by the Gambia, and Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC’s DZ Harmon by Liberia. That trio are joined by Monterey Bay F.C.’s Nevello Yoseke, who has received his first call-up from South Sudan after featuring at Cardinale Stadium this season.

With this group of call-ups – which also includes standouts from the past USL League Two season such as Devin Vega of the Des Moines Menace for Puerto Rico – there have now been 50 players from the USL Championship, League One and League Two called into senior international duty this calendar year.

Additionally, 15 younger talents have been selected to compete at the youth international level. The Charleston Battery’s Jesse Randall is currently with New Zealand’s U-23 squad where he has scored three goals in two games of qualifying from the Oceania Football Conference for the 2024 Paris Olympic Men’s Soccer Tournament next summer, while Orange County SC’s Bryce Jamison is in the United States U-17s squad competing this week at the 2023 Ježek Cup in the Czech Republic.
