League's first-ever haul earns Greenville's MacKinnon Player of the Week honors

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the Team of the Week for Week 15 of the 2023 regular season with Greenville Triumph SC attacker Lyam MacKinnon named Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball with his record-breaking four-goal performance against Chattanooga on Wednesday.

Already enjoying a respectable start to his first professional season after developing with his hometown Swiss Super League club FC Lausanne–Sport and later NCAA power Villanova University, the Swiss attacker made League One history on Wednesday, notching the league’s first-ever haul. What’s more, the 23-year-old’s 13-minute hat trick before bagging his fourth of the evening was the fastest in league history.

"First of all, it was a great team performance," MacKinnon said. "We really showed up as a team here and we got the first goal early. After we scored, we respond really well. It was a great team goal – I was just there at the finish on the second one - but it was a great combination. Overall, it was a great team performance defensively too, so this was really a great team win tonight."

"Lyam has transitioned well into his first season as a professional," Greenville Head Coach John Harkes said. "We are so delighted with his record-breaking accomplishments. Great to build on!"
