Changes at Chattanooga, big match for the Owls set for Wednesday evening

FOrmer All-League FOrward To make debut against former club

Matchup: Greenville Triumph SC (4-5-4, 7th) vs. Chattanooga Red Wolves SC (3-7-2, 11th)
Venue: Paladin Stadium; Greenville, S.C.
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. ET
Weather: Showers, 64°
BroadcastESPN+
Hashtag: #GVLvCHA
Series (First Meeting): 7-3-3, GVL (2019)

WHAT MATTERS

  • Changes at the top: Chattanooga parted ways with first-year Head Coach Ziggy Korytoski on Tuesday. 2022 USL League One Coach of the Year finalist Jimmy Weekley returns on an interim basis.
  • Lomis looms large: 2021 All-League First Team forward Marios Lomis returns to League One following a two-year stint in Europe. The Dutch forward can make his Red Wolves debut in Greenville against his former club.
  • Trending in different directions: Both Greenville and Chattanooga have picked up just one win through their last five matches. In that span, though, Greenville have won 40% of all possible points compared to Chattanooga's 27%.
PLAYER TO WATCH

  • Marios Lomis (CHA): The former All-League forward returns to League One with a chance to debut on the road against his former side. Lomis bagged 15 goals in 2021 for Greenville before playing in Malta. The 28-year-old forward's last match in Greenville was a 2-0 postseason victory over Chattanooga.

Omaha desperate to snap streak, Knoxville eager to continue ascent

Matchup: Union Omaha (2-3-6, 10th) vs. One Knoxville SC (5-4-4, 6th)
Venue: Werner Park; Papillion, Neb.
Kickoff: 8 p.m. ET
Weather: Showers, 64°
BroadcastESPN+
Hashtag: #OMAvKNX
Series (First Meeting): N/A (2023)

WHAT MATTERS

  • Success against expansion clubs: Omaha is set for its first meeting with either 2023 expansion club (KNX, LEX). Despite its recent run of form, the Owls are solid against expansion clubs that joined in 2020 or after, with a 15-6-7 record all-time and a 4-1-1 record in first meetings with such clubs.
  • Expansion side on top of the table?: A pair of Week 15 victories for Knoxville over Omaha and Richmond could see the first-year side finish the week on top of the table, a feat that's only been accomplished by a first-year side one other time (Charlotte, 2022).
  • Casciato era off to bumpy start: Omaha is a dismal 3-9-9 with a -12 goal differential across all competitions since Sept. 3, 2022. The Owls' six-match winless streak is its longest since closing out the 2022 campaign on an eight-match winless skid.
PLAYER TO WATCH

  • Noe Meza (OMA): Omaha's second-year striker is a hat trick away from passing Evan Conway as the club's all-time leading scorer across all competitions. The 25-year-old forward has tallied four goal contributions across his last four matches.
AVAILABILITY REPORT

  • OMA: None
  • KNX: D - Jan-Erik Leinhos (doubtful, injury), D - Dani Fernandez (questionable, injury), D - Sean O'Hearn (out, injury)
