Set to meet its Dogwood Derby rival for the second time this season and 17th time overall, the Charlotte Independence will host North Carolina FC at American Legion Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon. After starting the season with seven unbeaten, the Jacks have dropped two consecutive matches to a pair of clubs below the playoff line in Greenville and Lexington. Similarly, North Carolina's four-match win streak was snapped at the hands of then-unbeaten Forward Madison FC on May 13 before John Bradford's bunch bounced back with a dramatic comeback victory over Richmond on Wednesday. After starting the series just 1-6-1 over their first eight meetings, the Jacks have responded with a resounding 6-1-1 record over their last eight contests. Additionally, Charlotte has not lost to NCFC at home since 2019.
