Pair of even all-time series kick off Week 6

Charlotte Independence vs. Union Omaha

Venue: American Legion Memorial Stadium; Charlotte, N.C.
Kickoff: 7 p.m. ET
Weather: Sunny, 82°
BroadcastESPN+
Hashtag: #CLTvOMA
Series (First Meeting): 1-1-1 (2022)

Union Omaha (1-1-1, 7th) will head to Charlotte on Wednesday to take on the unbeaten Charlotte Independence (2-0-2, 1st). While unbeaten against Charlotte in two consecutive matchups, the Owls have never defeated the Jacks at ALMS. A win for Omaha could bump the club up to second For Charlotte, a draw would match its best start to a season through five matches (2021, 2016), while a victory over Omaha on Wednesday would see the Jacks secure their best start to a season in club history.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

CLT - Dane Kelly: After scoring 106 regular season goals in the USL Championship, the Championship's all-time leading scorer bagged his first in League One in Week 4  to help the Jacks remain undefeated.

OMA - Joe Gallardo: Gallardo recorded his first goal for Omaha on a set piece last week to earn a spot on the Team of the Week. Gallardo also won 80% of his duels, completed 100% of his dribbles and created a pair of chances.

Greenville Triumph SC vs. Central Valley Fuego FC

Venue: Paladin Stadium; Greenville, S.C.
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. ET
Weather: Sunny, 81°
BroadcastESPN+
Hashtag: #GVLvCV
Series (First Meeting): 1-1-1 (2022)

Greenville Triumph SC (0-3-0, 12th) is back at Paladin Stadium for the first time in nearly a month, as John Harkes' side welcomes Central Valley Fuego FC (1-1-1, 11th) to town. Both Greenville and Central Valley have experienced slow starts to the 2023 season; the pair of clubs have combined to average just 0.67 points per match so far. Central Valley is unbeaten against Greenville in its previous two matchups and that streak may be extended this evening based on Triumph SC's current form. While Greenville will remain at the bottom of the table regardless of outcome, a Central Valley victory could see Fuego FC end the evening at second.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

GVL - Noah Pilato: Pilato's special curling effort was one of the few highlights of an otherwise disappointing outing for Greenville a week ago. The midfielder contributed with an 87% passing accuracy, three shots and one goal.

CV - Villyan Bijev: Bijev proved incredibly efficient in Fuego FC’s 1-1 draw in Knoxville to earn Team of the Week honors. Bijev won the match-tying penalty, drew five fouls, secured four recoveries and completed 100% of his tackles, dribbles and duels.
