Jeffries led Jacks to top of the table with undefeated March

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced that the Charlotte Independence's Mike Jeffries has been named the League One Coach of the Month for March.

Jeffries led Charlotte to the top of the table with a 1-0-1 record in March and his side scored a league-high three goals – 1.07 more than expected. His Jacks held 2022 Players’ Shield winners Richmond to a scoreless draw before handing 2022 League One champions South Georgia its first loss of the season. Serving as head coach for 242 of the Independence's 257 all-time matches, Jeffries has led the Jacks to their third unbeaten opening month since 2018.

"While I am appreciative of the award and pleased with the start to our season, credit goes to the players who came into preseason fit and with a good mentality for the start of the season," Jeffries said. "I would also like to thank the staff – especially Assistant Coaches Dave Carton and Brad Johnson, who keep me organized and on task, as well as provide great input to the group. In addition, we benefited from keeping a core group of players together in the offseason – their familiarity with our system and style aided our preparation greatly.

"As I look around League One this season, the quality of teams has increased dramatically and the new franchises are strong; while we are happy with the solid start to the season, we know maintaining a consistent, high level throughout the year will be the challenge."

Jeffries was selected as League One’s Coach of the Month by the USL League One Technical Committee.
