Charlotte top the Power Rankings, South Georgia see rapid decline

Big wins for Charlotte, Northern Colorado and Central Valley see the trio surge, while 2022 USL League One Final participants South Georgia and Chattanooga suffer sizeable drops with their pair of recent results.

Is Charlotte's ascension to the top of the table sustainable? Is it too early to panic in Statesboro? Tell us why your club should rank higher and keep the conversation going on Twitter at @USLLeagueOne.

Summary

1 Charlotte Independence
(2-0-1)
Week 4: @ NC
3
Last Week: 4
Charlotte waltzed into City Stadium and pulled out a victory in front of 6,000 Richmond fans. The Jacks’ 2-1 victory over the Kickers was the first win at City Stadium since 2018 and helped the Independence remain atop the league table for the second consecutive week.
2 Richmond Kickers
(1-1-1)
Week 4: --

Last Week: 2
The Kickers dropped to 1-1-1 on the young season with their Week 3 loss against Charlotte. Even with Emiliano Terzaghi’s uncharacteristic scoreless streak and Akira Fitzgerald’s recent absence from the team, the Kickers still look to be a formidable threat.
3 Union Omaha
(0-0-1)
Week 4: @ CV
2
Last Week: 1
Omaha’s Week 3 contest in Knoxville was postponed as the Owls get ready to travel to California for a clash with an undefeated Fuego FC side in Fresno.
4 Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC
(1-0-1)
Week 4: --
2
Last Week: 6
The first team to earn multiple clean sheets and just one of two yet to concede a goal, the Hailstorm have put together what appears to be a solid squad. Delgado has been a pleasant surprise in goal, and the returning veterans have blended well with a collection of new faces.
5 Greenville Triumph SC
(0-1-0)
Week 4: @ TRM
2
Last Week: 3
Greenville have had plenty of time to reflect on its one-goal loss to Richmond in Week 1 as John Harkes’ boys prep to take on a struggling Tormenta FC team in Statesboro. Despite South Georgia recent form, Greenville have historically struggled against the Ibises, going 5-8-2 across all competitions since 2019.
6 North Carolina FC
(1-1-0)
Week 4: v. CLT
1
Last Week: 7
North Carolina earned its first win on Saturday as Rafa Mentzingen’s first NCFC goal served as the late match-winner. In the newly named Dogwood Derby, NCFC will welcome in first place side and bitter in-state rival Charlotte on Saturday.
7 Central Valley Fuego FC
(1-0-0)
Week 4: v. OMA
4
Last Week: 11
Fuego FC started its second season with a victory, shutting out Chattanooga at CHI Memorial Stadium. A big test against a visiting Omaha side looms this weekend.
8 One Knoxville SC
(1-0-0)
Week 4: @ CHA
1
Last Week: 9
Knoxville missed out on a highly anticipated Week 3 contest against Omaha due to travel issues, but a Week 4 matchup with a Chattanooga team hungry for goals should be exciting as Knoxville meets its in-state league rival for the first time.
9 Forward Madison FC
(0-0-1)
Week 4: @ LEX
1
Last Week: 10
Madison was off in Week 3 as they prep to spoil Lexington’s home opener on April 8. Realistically, failure to pick up at least a point on the road against an LSC team on a shortened week will be a disappointment for the ‘Mingos.
10 South Georgia Tormenta FC
(1-2-0)
Week 4: v. GVL
5
Last Week: 5
It’s been a rough stretch for South Georgia as its 1-2-0 start is officially the worst for a defending champion in league history. Despite its offensive struggles, Tormenta FC’s defense and goalkeeping is the primary concern as the team has conceded 3.21 goals more than expected.
11 Chattanooga Red Wolves SC
(0-1-1)
Week 4: v. KNX
3
Last Week: 8
Chattanooga has yet to pick up a win or even score a goal as new Head Coach Ziggy Korytoski attempts to lead the Red Wolves back to the League One Final. A potential loss or draw to newcomers Knoxville on Saturday would not be ideal.
12 Lexington SC
(0-2-0)
Week 4: v. MAD

Last Week: 12
Lexington narrowly missed out on securing its first-ever point due to a late Rafa Mentzingen winner for NCFC. LSC will host Madison in its home opener on Saturday as the expansion side will aim to treat the Lexington faithful to their first-ever win.
