Greenville, Knoxville enjoy slight rise

A defensive start to the season saw just four goals in three matches in Week 1. With the second half of the league set to kick off over the next couple of weeks, here's how things are shaping up heading into Week 2.

Summary

1 Union Omaha
(0-0-0)
Week 2: v. MAD

Last Week: 1
The revamped Owls get things started on Sunday as first-year Head Coach Dominic Casciato and company host the ‘Mingos at Caniglia Field.
2 South Georgia Tormenta FC
(1-0-0)
Week 2: v. CLT

Last Week: 2
The defending champs kicked off the season with a narrow 1-0 win over an NCFC side that controlled most of the match. Still, a win is a win.
3 Greenville Triumph SC
(0-0-0)
Week 2: v. RIC
1
Last Week: 4
There was a question as to who would lead the young Triumph SC attack composed of Labovitz, Evans and MacKinnon. Greenville answered that question with the addition of former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs goalscorer Leonardo Castro. Massive.
4 Richmond Kickers
(0-0-1)
Week 2: @ GVL
1
Last Week: 3
We’re only one match in, but it was a bit concerning to see the Kickers' offense muster just one shot on target in 90 minutes against the Jacks. Richmond will be glad that Akira Fitzgerald preserved the point on the road.
5 North Carolina FC
(0-1-0)
Week 2: ---

Last Week: 5
NCFC pushed Tormenta FC for nearly the entirety of the match, but the visitors came away with all three points. Still, things look promising for John Bradford’s new-look side, especially considering they were without Louis Perez, Luke Croll and Pecka in their season opener.
6 Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC
(0-0-0)
Week 2: @ CHA

Last Week: 6
Éamon Zayed will open his second season as Hailstorm head coach against the club he wrapped up his playing career with in Chattanooga. Finishing the preseason with a 5-1-1 record and a +30 goal differential should have the Hailstorm feeling good heading into the Den.
7 Charlotte Independence
(0-0-1)
Week 2: @ TRM

Last Week: 7
The Independence had plenty of chances to grab a winner against the Kickers in a match the hosts dominated. Settling for a scoreless draw surely feels like a loss to the attack-first Jacks.
8 One Knox SC
(1-0-0)
Week 2: ---
1
Last Week: 9
A promising showing in Week 1 saw Knoxville knock off rival Lexington in the pair’s first professional match. The real test comes on April 1, though, as Union Omaha come to visits the newcomers in a match that will be telling of both sides’ true capabilities.
9 Chattanooga Red Wolves SC
(0-0-0)
Week 2: v. NCO
1
Last Week: 8
A new-look Red Wolves team get things started on Saturday as new Head Coach Ziggy Korytoski looks to lead the Red Wolves back to the League One Final.
10 Forward Madison FC
(0-0-0)
Week 2: @ OMA

Last Week: 10
A steady stream of new signings is leading up to a big battle against Union Omaha in Nebraska on Sunday. The ‘Mingos will be eager to claim a victory in its season opener for the first time in its five-year history.
11 Central Valley Fuego FC
(0-0-0)
Week 2: ---

Last Week: 11
Fuego FC still has another week to get things going under second-year gaffer Martín Vásquez after its Wednesday contest was postponed.
12 Lexington SC
(0-1-0)
Week 2: ---

Last Week: 12
Lexington’s debut match went from bad to worse when Knoxville’s go-ahead goal was followed by Don Smart’s ejection. Still, holding its own against Knoxville is a step in the right direction as Sam Stockley continues to develop the chemistry of his young squad.
