LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington SC today announced the signing of Cesar Murillo Jr., pending league and federation approval. Murillo Jr. will join the club for its inaugural League One season after one season at Forward Madison FC.

Originally from El Paso, Texas, Murillo Jr. joined FC Dallas’ youth academy in 2011 before playing NCAA Division I collegiate soccer at the College of Charleston from 2014-17.

Murillo Jr. then joined North Texas SC, ahead of the inaugural 2019 USL League One season where he helped the squad win the first-ever League One Final.

Murillo Jr. joined Greenville Triumph SC from 2020-21, appearing in 31 matches while helping the club win the 2020 USL League One Final. He spent the 2022 season with Forward Madison FC.

“It means a lot to be among the first signings for Lexington SC,” said Murillo Jr. “I’m excited to get going and help provide wins for the city of Lexington. Individually, a goal of mine is to be a leader and a key piece to help the team get as many wins as possible, as well as bring home a league title.”

“Cesar is someone we’ve been tracking for a period of time,” said LSC Head Coach Sam Stockley. “When we had the opportunity to bring him in to work with the team and see how he fit into the culture, it became immediately clear that he would be a great fit. He’s a fantastic center back with an understanding of the league as he’s been part of USL League One champions, and he’s fantastic at leading and organizing the group using those experiences.”
