WINDSOR, Colo. – Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC on Tuesday announced the club has signed forward Brandon Rosas for the 2023 season, pending league and federation approval.

The signing of Rosas comes on the heels of a successful trial that saw him score a pair of hat tricks in preseason matches against Peak XI FC and University of Colorado Colorado Springs.

“Even before he came in I knew what he was like,” Hailstorm Head Coach Éamon Zayed said. “It was just great to actually get to see him in person.”

Rosas, a 29-year-old native of La Unión, Mexico, has played his entire career in his home country, with Northern Colorado being his first club abroad.

“I think it’s a very professional club, I like the objectives in the clubhouse,” Rosas said. “It made it an easy choice to come.”

Prior to joining the Hailstorm, Rosas played for CF Alacranes de Durango in Mexico's second-division Liga de Expansión MX. He scored six goals in 19 matches during the Apertura 2022. The 2021-22 season with Alacranes was Rosas’ most prolific in front of goal as he scored 27 times including the only goal of the Apertura Final and a brace in the Promotion Final to lead his club into the second tier for 2022-23.

“Brandon has a great pedigree, great background,” Zayed said. “Scored over 100 goals in the Mexican divisions.”

Despite having played the bulk of his career in the second and third tiers in Mexico, Rosas does have top-level experience, having played for defending Mexican champions CF Pachuca and fellow Liga MX side Club León at the youth level.
