PAPILLION, Neb. – Union Omaha today announced the signing of forward Steevan Dos Santos, pending league and federation approval. Dos Santos has scored a combined 70 regular season and postseason goals between four USL Championship clubs.

Dos Santos joins the offensive ranks at Omaha after two seasons with USL Championship side Tampa Bay Rowdies. In 2022, Dos Santos netted the third-most goals on the squad for an explosive Rowdies offense that led the league in goals scored. Before that, he scored 15 goals and notched seven assists in 44 appearances with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC in 2019 and 2020.

Dos Santos established himself as one of the most dangerous threats in the Eastern Conference in his time with former Championship side Ottaway Fury FC, serving as the team’s top scorer in back-to-back seasons in 2015 and 2016. The Cape Verdean won the USL Cup with the Rochester Rhinos in 2015, contributing nine goals on the team’s quest for the title. Before his career in the USL, Dos Santos also played abroad in Cape Verde with his hometown CS Mindelense, Norway with Ullensaker/Kisa IL, and Angola with Progresso Associação do Sambizanga.

“I’m delighted to have brought in a proven goal scorer like Steevan,” Omaha Head Coach Dominic Casciato said. “His record speaks for itself. He’s a player I’ve tracked for a long time and comes highly recommended from Neil Collins at the Rowdies, where he has been competing at a high-level day in and day out for the last couple of seasons. I'm sure our fans will love the impact he will make on our front line, and I’m looking forward to seeing his experience and quality come into our locker room as we build a united group this pre-season.”

“Steevan is exactly the type of player we set out to find at the beginning of the offseason,” Omaha General Manager Peter Marlette said. “He’s an experienced goal scorer with the physicality and ability to give League One defenders serious problems. I expect him to not only score goals himself but also allow the players around him to find the net often.”

Dos Santos made one appearance with the Cape Verde national team on Dec. 30, 2013. The Mindelo native appeared as a substitute in a 4-1 international exhibition loss against a Catalonia side comprised of eight FC Barcelona players.
