Toros bring aboard Colombian forward Juan Galindrez

EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley FC announced on Wednesday the club had signed of forward Juan Galindrez ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

Galindrez joins the Toros having spent the past two seasons with USL League One club Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. This past campaign, the 28-year-old netted 13 goals, placing him fourth in the league across the regular season and playoffs, as he helped lead the Red Wolves to the USL League One Final for the first time in their history.

Overall, Galindrez scored 24 goals in 57 appearances for the Red Wolves, twice earning League One Player of the Month honors in June across both seasons.

Previously, Galindrez’s career started in Mexico, where he initially competed for second division club Real Cuautitlan in 2016. He then moved on to the state of Tijuana, Mexico in 2017 where he competed with Tijuana Premier, posting a breakout season with 21 goals in just 34 matches, catching the eye of then-LigaMX side, Dorados de Sinaloa.

At Dorados de Sinaloa he was under the direction of the late Diego Maradona, who managed Dorados during the 2018-19 season; Galindrez appeared in six matches for the side in the top flight of Mexican soccer.

In 2019 he returned to his native Colombia to compete with Fortaleza CEIF in the Colombian Categoria Primera B ranks. He tallied four goals in 24 appearances with the club before making his move to the United States to compete for the Red Wolves.
