LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington SC today announced Kaelon Fox as its first professional signing, pending league and federation approval.

A native of Louisville, Ky., the 27-year-old Fox graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2016 and joins Lexington’s inaugural season roster with years of professional experience as a center back, right back and defensive midfielder.

He most recently played for FC Tucson in USL League One in 2021 and 2022, and was Tucson's Player of the Year in 2021 and the captain in 2022. Fox also has experience playing in Iceland with Völsungur ÍF and Thór Akureyri between 2019 and 2020.

Kentuckians will recognize Fox from his youth days, playing club first for Javanon and then in town for Lexington FC, and winning back-to-back Kentucky High School Athletic Association state titles with St. Xavier High School (2011-12). He won Kentucky Player of the Year as well as the title of Mr. Soccer in 2012.

“I am ecstatic to be a part of this club for the inaugural season in USL League One,” Fox said. “Having grown up in Louisville, and playing for Lexington FC and the University of Kentucky, it feels like a homecoming. Ever since the announcement of the club I have been following and waiting for this opportunity, and I am excited to get started with the group and meet the fans and community.”

Fox played at UK from 2013-16, earning his undergraduate degree and multiple Academic Honor Roll accolades while helping the Wildcats to three NCAA Tournament appearances. He finished his collegiate career at St. Francis University in 2017, attaining a Master’s in Business Administration while starting all 18 matches for the Red Flashes.

When asked about the goals for the squad in the inaugural season, Fox said, “Making playoffs and winning the title will be our main goals just like any team across the league. Defensively, I will be pushing the guys for many shutouts and having the best defense in the league. Being a first-year club, everyone will be arriving in as a ‘rookie,’ so coming together and playing as a collective during pre-season and on will be another main goal of ours.”
