WINDSOR, Colo. – Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC announced on Tuesday the club had exercised its contract option on midfielder Jackson Dietrich for the 2023 USL League One season.

Dietrich was a mid-season addition to Hailstorm FC in 2022, signing with the team in late July. He had previously played under Northern Colorado assistant coach Kevin Swachak at the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in 2021.

“[Jackson] came in late in the season and had to catch up on fitness, so we just saw glimpses of him,” said Hailstorm FC Head Coach Eamon Zayed. “I’m excited to see what he can show with a full pre-season in his legs.”

After joining the team, Dietrich played in 11 games for Northern Colorado. Zayed frequently used him as a substitute, which accounted for nine of his appearances, and he posted an 84.1 percent passing accuracy rate and notched two chances created while winning one penalty kick in 257 minutes of action.

Now, Dietrich is hungry to build on his 2022 performance and make more of an impact in 2023.

“I’m beyond excited to be back in Northern Colorado next season,” Dietrich said. “I can’t wait to get back and make a huge impact this season and do everything we can to bring home a championship.”
