CARY, N.C. – North Carolina FC announced on Friday the club had acquired forward Shak Adams via transfer from the USL Championship’s Charleston Battery. The transaction, which is pending league and federation approval, brings Adams back to WakeMed Soccer Park, where he competed for North Carolina on loan during the 2022 USL League One season.

Adams made 13 appearances for NCFC during the past campaign, notching two goals across 601 minutes of action. One of Adams’ goals provided thrilling game-winner in the third minute of second-half stoppage time during the team’s 2-1 victory against Forward Madison FC on August 10.

“Shak has proven to be dangerous in the attack and his pace of play makes him a very difficult matchup in this league,” said NCFC Head Coach John Bradford. “We saw tremendous strides in his play as he became more comfortable in our system after joining midway through last season. With a full off-season and training camp, we expect him to be a consistent goal-scoring threat this year and he’ll make us very dynamic in the attacking third.”

The 24-year-old was originally selected in the Third Round of the 2020 Major League Soccer SuperDraft by his hometown club Nashville SC after competing collegiately at Florida Gulf Coast University. He made his professional debut in 2020 in USL League One FC Tucson, and made 38 appearances for the club before signing with Charleston ahead of the 2022 season.

Overall, Adams has made 60 professional appearances and brings more than 3,400 minutes of experience. He’s scored 13 goals and has four assists.
