TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced that FC Tucson's Jon Pearlman has been named the League One Coach of the Month for September.
"It's a great honor because Coach of the Month means Team of the Month, and our team was tremendous in September," Pearlman said. "Obviously full credit to Sebastian Pineda, Mark Biagi and Vito Higgins, the entire technical staff and all the work they put in all year. And the most important piece is this team kept competing incredibly hard when they were put down and out, and fought all the way to the final three games to be still in the hunt for qualification for the playoffs. I'm incredibly proud of the group; this is a team honor, and I'm really happy to accept on behalf of the team."
Pearlman led Tucson to the most wins (4), most points (13), second-most goals (8), most clean sheets (3) and fewest goals conceded (2) across the league in an impressive unbeaten month. Facing a tough September schedule, Pearlman's side took down a number of teams in playoff contention including Charlotte, Omaha and Chattanooga.
"The team has been better in the second half than the first, and we've made a lot of progress as a group," Pearlman added. "Of course, you'd rather win it in October, but I'm just happy that the group has dug deep and fought their way all the way through September when the chips were down and made a great run to put us back in a competitive position to play meaningful games for the entire season."
Pearlman was selected as League One’s Coach of the Month by the USL League One Technical Committee.
