Ciss' remarkable match winner earns Goal of the Month

TAMPA, Fla. – The Charlotte Independence's Omar Ciss has claimed the USL League One Fans' Choice Goal of the Month award for September with his bar-down, match-winning banger from well beyond the penalty area.

With a one-goal advantage heading into first-half stoppage time, Ciss smashed in a bouncing ball on the half volley from well beyond the penalty area. Banging off the underside of the crossbar and in, the goal served as Ciss' third of the season and the match winner for Charlotte over in-state rival NCFC.

Ciss' goal earned 50% of the vote conducted at USLLeagueOne.com to claim the award. South Georgia Tormenta FC's Mukwelle Akale finished second on 20% with a long-range free kick against Tucson on Sept. 16, while Union Omaha's Dion Acoff finished third on 14% with his improbable equalizer against Chattanooga on Sept. 3.
