League's all-time leading scorer added six to his total to lead Richmond to top of table

TAMPA, Fla. – Richmond Kickers forward Emiliano Terzaghi was voted USL League One’s Player of the Month for August. The veteran Kickers attacker is enjoying the second-highest scoring campaign of his professional career thanks to a six-goal August. Richmond’s captain also added two match winners and two braces to Richmond’s 3-1-1 month.

"It has been a very intense month for the team, and they did a great job,” Terzaghi said. “I appreciate the recognition, and also my teammates who helped me achieve it."

Scoring in all but one of Richmond’s five August matches, the league’s all-time scoring leader started off his month with a stunning, long-range match winner against Northern Colorado from 40 yards out. Just four days later, Terzaghi led Richmond to a 3-1 victory over Tucson with an eight-minute brace.

Terzaghi closed out the month with a penalty conversion in a 2-2 draw with Central Valley before recording another brace to propel the Kickers to a convincing 3-0 victory over Omaha.

"Emi has scored goals over the past few years here in Richmond and we appreciate his talent and ability daily,” Richmond Kickers Chief Sporting Officer and Head Coach Darren Sawatzky said. “We are happy for him with the personal accolades he receives. He is a humble worker who comes to work each day willing to help his teammates while continuing to hit the scoresheet.

"This past month has been a very competitive month in our league with good teams fighting for playoff spots. To have Emi, a known goalscorer, continue to score goals and help our group raise the level is great. We know Emi will fight with his teammates each game as we work through the end of the regular season."

Terzaghi received 43% of a weighted poll that included the USL League One Technical Committee and an online fan vote held at Union Omaha forward Noe Meza finished second on 24% after totaling four goals and eight shots on target, while Chattanooga Red Wolves SC midfielder Moe Espinoza finished third on 23% after recording two goals and two assists.
