League One Player of the Month Nominees – August

17 goals for this bunch of Player of the Month candidates

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the five nominees for the League One Player of the Month award for August, with top performers from the season’s fifth month selected for the ballot.

Voting for the League One Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following two voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLLeagueOne.com will comprise 60% of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, Sept. 12 at 12:30 p.m. ET.

  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 40% of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Please note: The League One Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as League One Most Valuable Player or position players of the year.

USL LEAGUE ONE PLAYER OF THE MONTH – August

Khori Bennett, Charlotte Independence – The only July Player of the Month candidate to reprise his role as a nominee in August, the 24-year-old forward is enjoying the most productive season of his career. Bennett followed up his four-goal July with two goals and two assists in August for the Jacks.

Moe Espinoza, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC – Espinoza is having a breakout season and has helped Chattanooga to a fine run in the latter half of the season. The 23-year-old midfielder scored twice and recorded two assists and six chances created to help the Red Wolves go unbeaten in August.

Noe Meza, Union Omaha – In just his first season as a professional, Meza has played a big role in Omaha’s title-defending season. In addition to his four goals in August, Meza recorded eight shots on target and one brace.

Irvin Parra, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC – Nominated for Player of the Month for the third time this season, Parra notched three goals, seven key passes and one match winner in a promising month for the expansion side.

Emiliano Terzaghi, Richmond Kickers – The veteran Kickers attacker is enjoying the second-highest scoring campaign of his professional career thanks to a six-goal August. Richmond’s captain also added two match winners and two braces to Richmond’s 3-1-1 month.
