GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Jamaican Football Federation (JFF) on Wednesday announced the 27 players called up to compete in the Austria Mini Tournament later this month. Greenville Triumph SC midfielder Venton Evans was named to the roster and can earn his first senior national team cap for the Reggae Boyz.

In addition to Jamaica, the tournament will feature a trio of World Cup-bound nations in Morocco, Qatar and Ghana. The friendly competition will take place between August 20 and 26 and be hosted at Vienna’s Ernst-Happel-Stadion – the largest stadium in Austria.

“The JFF is delighted to be part of these games and in doing so, will present a tremendous opportunity for our ever-growing talent pool of international players,” the JFF said in a statement. “This will showcase them to a worldwide audience including Africa, the Middle East and Europe as well as the many scouts and interested clubs who will be in attendance.”

This season, Evans has amassed a person-best five goals and two assists for Triumph SC – a pair of marks good for second on the team. Greenville is unbeaten in matches in which Evans scores and are second place in the league table with a chance to regain its top spot this weekend.
