Three-goal week sees Richmond's Terzaghi named Player of the Week

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the Team of the Week for Week 19 of the 2022 regular season with the Richmond Kickers’ Emiliano Terzaghi named Player of the Week. The 29-year-old Argentine confirmed his third-consecutive season with double-digit goals thanks to a three-goal Week 19.

Emiliano Terzaghi netted the match-winner in a 1-0 victory for the Kickers over the Hailstorm in Severance, Colo. with a long-distance strike to stun the Northern Colorado goalkeeper. Following the Tuesday-night victory, Terzaghi recorded his second match-winner of the week and seventh career brace with a two-goal performance against Tucson.

“It’s always positive when you can change the result,” Terzaghi said. “I think that it was big for our team, big for the group to be able to do that, especially facing the adversity after that first Tucson goal. Being able to change the result of the match is something positive that we can take away from the game.”

"Emiliano is a goal scorer,” said Head Assistant Coach Mika Elovaara. “When you see him in our training sessions, you see the variety of ways that he can score. It's part of our identity to make sure that we find different ways of getting the ball to him."

With a six-point week for both the Richmond Kickers and Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, each side sees four players named to the Team of the Week. Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC and Union Omaha see two and one players, respectively, named to the list following a three-point week for either side.

GK – Akira Fitzgerald, Richmond Kickers: Facing by far the most shots of the week, Fitzgerald helped his Kickers return to the top of the table by accumulating 13 saves – nearly triple the amount of the next-highest ‘keeper – across two Week 18 wins.

D – Brecc Evans, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC: Returning to the league after winning the inaugural League One title in 2019, Evans has scored his first two career goals this season with the second of which coming in a win against Tormenta FC.

D – Timmy Mehl, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Guiding the Red Wolves to a six-point week in which Chattanooga outscored its opponents six to one, Mehl lead the league in recoveries with 10, possessions won with 10 and was tied for the league-lead in blocks with two.

D – Stuart Ritchie, Richmond Kickers: The former USYNT defender has racked up the most assists in a single season of his career thanks to a pair of helpers in Richmond’s 3-1 win over Richmond. In two Week 19 wins, Ritchie won 100% of his tackles and registered eight recoveries.

D – Arthur Rogers, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC: Rogers has continued his season as one of the best distributors in the league by tying a league-high seven assists. In addition to his assist in a 2-0 win against Tormenta FC, Rogers led the league in chances created with seven and more than doubled the next-highest total of crosses attempted and crossed completed.

M – Moe Espinoza, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: In Chattanooga’s convincing 5-1 victory over Greenville, Espinoza tallied the first match of his career in which he registered both a goal and an assist. Espinoza also created a trio of chances and completed 100% of his long balls.

M – Rafa Mentzingen, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: In just 97 minutes of play across two matches, Mentzingen recorded a pair of goals to help Chattanooga to a pair of wins. Subbed on in the 60th minute against Greenville, Mentzingen tallied a four-minute brace to confirm the 5-1 thumping.

M – JP Scearce, Union Omaha: In his third season with the Owls, Scearce is enjoying the most productive season of his three-year professional career. His league-high 1.01 goals added per match in Week 19 was enough to propel the Kickers to a six-point week and see the side return to the top of the table.
