Inaugural Ice and Fire Cup highlights two-match evening

South Georgia Tormenta FC vs. Grenville Triumph SC

Venue: Eagle Field at Erk Russell Athletic Park, Statesboro, Ga.
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. ET
Weather: Cloudy, 79°
BroadcastESPN+
Hashtag: #TRMvGVL

Following tonight's match, neither South Georgia Tormenta FC (5-4-5, 3rd) nor Greenville Triumph SC (8-4-3, 1st) have played any team more than each other in the pair's four-year history. Meeting for the 13th time on Wednesday evening, a Greenville win would even the all-time series at 6-6-1 and snap a four-match South Georgia winning streak. Unless Tormenta FC lose by four goals or more, neither side will see any movement in the league table following the result of tonight's match, however, the result should go a long way in determining which stays near the top of the table in the coming weeks.

TRM - Gabriel Cabral: Graduating from Tormenta FC 2 over the offseason, the 25-year-old Brazilian was the only player to record both a goal and an assist in the same match in Week 15, earning him Player of the Week honors. The first-year pro assisted Jamil Roberts’ opening score before netting the match-winner in the 81st minute against the Red Wolves.

GVL - Venton Evans: Coming on at the half, Evans proved to be the difference-maker in a defensive stalemate between Greenville and Central Valley last week. The 24-year-old Jamaican midfielder recorded the match-winner in the 66th minute and won 100% of his tackles and 75% of his ground and aerial duels in just 45 minutes of action.

Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC vs. Central Valley Fuego FC

Venue: Sonny Lubick Field at Canvas Stadium, Fort Collins, Colo.
Kickoff: 9 p.m. ET
Weather: Cloudy, 85°
BroadcastESPN+
Hashtag: #NCOvCV

Despite meeting earlier in the season, the first official match of the Ice and Fire Cup will kick off tonight at Colorado State University's Canvas Stadium. The first meeting went the way of the Hailstorm - and it wasn't a particularly close contest as Northern Colorado dropped four on Fuego FC, winning 4-1. While both sides have struggled as of late, a win tonight by either could see the victor jump as high as third in a tightly contested league.

NCO - Arthur Rogers: Across two Week 15 matches, Rogers recorded an assist while creating eight chances and adding nine recoveries and three blocks on 81% passing accuracy.

CV - Villyan Bijev: Tied for sixth in the league and leading Fuego FC with five goals on the season, Bijev will aim to find the back of the net for the first time since May.
