CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Chattanooga Red Wolves SC today announced the loan signing of Tampa Bay Rowdies defender Timmy Mehl for the 2022 USL League One campaign, pending league and federation approval.

Timmy Mehl, a native of Manhattan Beach, Calif., has made 43 appearances in the USL Championship since joining Loudoun United FC in the summer of 2020. He played his collegiate soccer at Indiana University and signed his first professional contract with then-USL Championship side North Carolina FC. He returns for his second loan spell with the Red Wolves after playing on loan from North Carolina FC in 2019 where he made three starting appearances in the Red Wolves’ inaugural season.

Club President and General Manager Sean McDaniel spoke about how the addition of Mehl will bolster the club’s championship ambitions for 2022 saying, “As the season progresses, it’s important to continually improve our roster in order for us to make a deep run towards the USL League One title. Timmy is coming in to do just that for the Red Wolves, strengthening our numbers and helping us towards winning the trophy. We are glad to have him back in Chattanooga.”

The backline will be a key focus for Obleda’s side in winning a title this season, with the head coach offering nothing but praise for the club’s new signing saying, “I’m very happy with the addition of Timmy Mehl to our roster. He brings a level of professionalism and experience that is a perfect addition to our squad. We’re very happy about bringing him at this point of the season and we look forward to him solidifying our backline for the remainder of the year.”

The addition of USL Championship experience into the side will be key for the remainder of the season. The defender shared his excitement to be back in Chattanooga stating, “I’m really excited to be back in Chattanooga, I didn’t get to play a home game with the club my last time here and I am excited for that to change.”

When asked about his goal for the season, Mehl was confident in what he hopes to accomplish with the club: “My goal is to make it to the playoffs and win the championship of course.”
