A strong outing from Philip Breno in goal propelled Forward Madison FC to victory

RICHMOND, Va. – Forward Madison FC (1-1-3, 7th) spoiled the Richmond Kickers' (2-2-1, 3rd) anniversary celebrations by securing the first win of its season with a 1-0 victory at City Stadium. The Flamingo victory is enough to even the all-time series record at 4-4-1 and claim bragging rights as it pertains to the Henny Derby. The win is the second such instance of the 11th-placed team defeating the top-placed team this season.

With more than 30 fouls committed in total during the rivalry match, the physical contest was controlled by the home side for much of the contest. The Kickers held statistical advantages in nearly every offensive category, but it was the incredible play by Philip Breno in goal and the rest of the 'Mingo defense that led the way to victory. The winner for FMFC came in the 67th minute when the recently subbed-on Justin Sukow fired a powerful shot toward goal that forced Jalen Crisler to deflect the ball into his own net.
