Defending champions battle to 2-2 draw with Madison at Breese Stevens Field

MADISON, Wis. – Forward Madison FC and Union Omaha settled for a 2-2 draw at Breese Stevens Field on Saturday evening.

Union Omaha opened its first League One match of the season with an early goal from Hugo Kametani, who pounced on a loose ball in the box and fired it home. Not long after, a foul by John Scearce in the penalty area led to Audi Jepson converting a penalty and recording his first goal for the Flamingos to knot things up late in the first half. Finally, just before stoppage time, Union Omaha found its second goal of the match in stoppage time when dropped a header into the back of the net.

With Madison on a mission to find its equalizer in the second half, their efforts would pay off when Finnish youth international Jeremiah Streng scored his first goal, spinning around to strike a bouncing ball in the penalty area. Streng's score with just over 20 minutes to go in the match would hold the scores even for the remainder of the evening.
