A brace from Fresno native Christian Chaney was enough for the expansion side to top Triumph SC

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Central Valley Fuego FC spoiled the opening-day celebration for Greenville Triumph SC as the expansion side came into Triumph Stadium at Legacy Early College and left with a convincing 2-0 victory.

Greenville took control of the match early, sending a number of shots toward goal in the first half, forcing Israeli goalkeeper Ofek Antman into action early and often. Jake Keegan sent a lofted shot toward goal just before the end of the first half, requiring Antman to act quickly in order to palm away the shot.

Scoreless at the break, the tone of the match shifted suddenly when Victor Falck sent a perfectly position ball beyond the Triumph SC backline to set up a one-on-one opportunity for Christian Chaney in front of goal. Chaney slotted home the ball in the 56' to earn Fuego FC its first goal in club history.

Greenville looked to even the match with a rocket of a shot from Jamie Smith that rattled off the underside of the crossbar and out just ten minutes after Central Valley opened the scoring. Minutes later, however, Christian Chaney would take advantage of a Paul Christensen error in front of the Triumph SC goal, dispossessing the goalkeeper and tapping the ball into the net, securing an impressive victory in the club's first-ever outing.
