Three Kickers found the back of the net in 4-0 victory over visiting Tucson

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond kicked off its 30th-season celebrations in style as the Kickers picked apart FC Tucson, 4-0, at City Stadium in the league's first match of the 2022 campaign.

The Kickers looked to grab the lead early as Jonathan Bolanos had an early one-on-one opportunity against Tucson's Carlos Merancio, but the Mexican goalkeeper came up big in the early stages of the match. Despite early heroics from both 'keepers, it would be the two-time MVP, Emiliano Terzaghi, who opened the scoring as he tapped in a deflected ball in the box in the 18'.

Extending the Richmond lead further was Nil Vinals, who tucked a prefectly presented Stephen Payne ball into the left side of the net in the 34'. Despite plenty of Tucson chances – namely an on-target attempt from Louis Perez just before the half – Akira Fitzgerald and the Richmond defense would continue to thwart the visitors' attack.

Vinyals earned his brace in the 60', finishing another perfect service into the underside of the net to give Richmond a three-goal advantage. Richmond and Vinyals continued their dominance in the match as the Spaniard added to his brace with an assist on a Matt Bentley goal in the 81' to seal the match.
