FRESNO, Calif. – Central Valley Fuego FC today announced it has signed defender Maxi Schenfeld as the club builds its roster for its inaugural 2022 USL League One season. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

Born to Chilean and Argentine parents, the Copiapó, Chile native joins Fuego FC after a successful season with fellow League One side FC Tucson last season. Schenfeld made 26 appearances a season ago, leading FC Tucson to the semifinals of the USL League One Playoffs. Previously, Schenfeld has appeared for NPSL side Miami Fusion FC and then-NISA club Miami FC.

Collegiately, Schenfeld competed for Miami National University winning the 2018 USCAA National Championship. In 2015, Schenfeld was named an NAIA All-American with Florida Memorial University.

“I’m extremely happy to sign with Fuego FC. The city of Fresno has something special, and I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far. It is a new project with enormous potential in a community that loves soccer. Last year, I helped my team head to the semifinals so this year I would like to achieve even more. With the right mentality, I’m sure we can achieve great things this season.”
