CARY, N.C. - North Carolina FC today announced that goalkeeper Will Pulisic will join North Carolina FC on loan from Major League Soccer side Austin FC, pending league and federation approval.

“I’m super excited to be joining North Carolina FC this season,” Pulisic said. “We have a fantastic coaching staff and a hungry group of players that want to win games. I can’t wait until we can get the season going and play in front of our fans. I’m going to leave everything I have on the field for this club, my teammates and the fans.

A graduate of Duke University and former member of the NCFC U-23s, Pulisic started all 66 games during his collegiate career with the Blue Devils, recording 200 saves, 19 shutouts, and allowing 84 goals to finish with a 1.25 goals-against average and a .704 save percentage. A highly decorated 'keeper, the 23-year-old collected several accolades over four seasons at Duke, as he was twice tabbed an All-ACC selection, selected to the 2018 All-Region third team, and was named to the All-ACC Academic Team and the ACC Academic Honor Roll four times. After a preseason trial, Pulisic signed with Austin FC in April 2021.

Prior to his time in Durham, Pulisic took a gap year and played in Germany with the Borussia Dortmund U-19 squad, for whom he made eight appearances and tallied four clean sheets in 720 minutes of playing time. Also a regular on the United States Youth National Team, Pulisic has registered 24 appearances with the U-17 USYNT and four appearances with the U-19 USYNT. The Mechanicsville, Va. native was also the starting goalkeeper for his country in the 2015 U-17 World Cup in Chile.

"I am extremely excited to bring Will into our group for the 2022 North Carolina FC season," said Head Coach John Bradford. "He is a talented goalkeeper who will be a great addition to our roster, as well as our locker room.  With Will’s past experience with North Carolina FC at the USL League Two level and having played locally at Duke University, this is a perfect fit for both Will and for us.

"As he is still early in his professional career, I’m certain that the games and development that Will will get with us in 2022 will be a positive factor for his continued growth and trajectory," Bradford added. "We want to thank the staff at Austin FC for their trust in our club and staff at North Carolina FC in working together on this beneficial move for all involved."
